What is CLAT?

Introduction to CLAT UG
CLAT UG is the entrance test for students aspiring to pursue a five-year integrated law program such as BA LLB, BBA LLB, BCom LLB, and BSc LLB. The exam is designed to test candidates’ aptitude in reading, logical thinking, and legal reasoning rather than rote memorization. A good score in CLAT can open doors to some of the best law schools in India, shaping the foundation for a successful legal career.
Eligibility
To appear for CLAT UG, candidates must have completed or be appearing for their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination from a recognized board. There is no age limit for the exam, ensuring equal opportunities for all aspirants.
Exam Pattern
CLAT UG is a 2-hour objective exam with 120 multiple-choice questions , each carrying 1 mark. There is also a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer. The exam consists of five sections:
• English Language – Tests grammar, vocabulary and comprehensive skills
• Current Affairs & General Knowledge – Covers national, international and other relevant events
• Legal Reasoning – Evaluates the ability to apply legal principles to situations
• Logical Reasoning – Focuses on analytical and reasoning skills.
• Quantitative Techniques – Includes basic math and data interpretation.
