How TO CRACK  AILET IN 08 MONTHS ?

If you want to pursue law, imagine securing a seat at India's top law school- an institution that shapes the finest legal minds of the country. National Law University Delhi (NLUD) is the dream destination of thousands of  law aspirants and the gateway is All India Law Entrance Examination (AILET). Unlike the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), which is conducted for 25 National Law Universities (NLUs) across India, AILET is exclusively for NLUD, making it highly competitive due to the limited number of seats. Since AILET is a single-university exam, competition is much higher, requiring aspirants to have a more focused strategy. However, with eight months of consistent effort, smart strategies and focused preparation, you can turn this dream into reality. With the right mindset and well-structured approach, clearing AILET becomes easier but the key lies in the unwavering dedication and consistency.

UNDERSTANDING THE EXAM PATTERN

National Law University Delhi offers a total of 120 seats for BA LLB, making this entrance tough. It consists of three sections – ENGLISH LANGUAGE (including 50 questions),  LOGICAL REASONING (including 70 questions) AND CURRENT AFFAIRS & GENERAL KNOWLEDGE (including 30 questions) designed to test the ability of a candidate to comprehend, think logically and stay informed about the happenings of the world. Both CLAT and AILET include similar sections like ENGLISH LANGUAGE, LEGAL AND LOGICAL REASONING but they differ in pattern and difficulty. CLAT follows a comprehension-based approach, whereas AILET includes a mix of comprehension and direct application-based questions, making its preparation unique. There are total 150 questions each carrying 1 mark for every correct answer and 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer. Each section requires a different strategy and hence it becomes very crucial to allocate the time effectively as the duration of the exam is 120 minutes.

  • SECTION - WISE STRATEGY FOR AILET

While preparing for an entrance examination like AILET it becomes crucial to have a study plan so that no section is given unreasonably more time or you run out of time. Without properly balancing the time allocation, a candidate cannot give his best. Each section in AILET tests a different set of skills, so prioritizing how and in which order one should attempt the paper plays a very important role. Here is the detailed strategy that can help you plan accordingly:

    1. ENGLISH LANGUAGE

    - This section consists of 50 questions for 50 marks focusing majorly on comprehending the passages along with finding the main idea and the central theme of the passage, to master this one should have a good comprehending skill.

    - Developing the habit of reading newspaper daily should be your top priority. This will improve your reading speed, vocabulary, comprehending skills and would be the best source of current affairs.

    - Strengthen basics of Grammar. Focus on the rules of tense , voice , narration, verb etc and keep practising grammar as this can help you gain good marks.

    - Familiarise yourself with literary devices, phrases and idiomatic expressions. Start preparing a list for them , keep adding new words and revise them regularly.

    2. LOGICAL REASONING

    - This section carries the highest weightage consisting of 70 questions for 70 marks. Thus it requires a focused approach and consistent practice.

    - The questions asked are generally based on Cause & Effect, Assumptions, Conclusion, Course of action etc which can not be done only with knowing the concepts but you need to have a good practise.

    - Thus previous year question paper becomes the best source to practise the logical reasoning question. Also, try to understand the reasoning behind the correct answer and find why you went wrong.

    - Practising questions wil help you analyze your weak points, try to work more on them and practise regularly.

    3. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE & CURRENT AFFAIRS

    - The best source for current affairs is the newspaper. Read The Hindu, The Economic Times, Indian Express and legal websites like Bar & Bench, Live Law to be updated on the legal headlines as well.

    - Note important dates and revise the static GK covering History, Geography, Polity, economics, and international organizations.

    - Avoid random guessing and wasting time on a single question because this is the section where you can save your time during the examination.

    - Follow monthly compendiums, magazines and revise them regularly.

MOCK TESTS AND ANALYSIS
Mocks are the backbone of AILET preparation and can be your best friend. Sit in a distraction- free environment with a timer and attempt mock at the same time as the actual examination is. Giving mocks will help you a lot with time management, improving speed & accuracy, strengthening your weak areas and identifying where you lack.

But randomly giving mocks without its analysis will be of no use. Try to find out where you went wrong and the reason behind it. Note down your mistakes and the reasoning of the correct answer. Identify the questions you marked correct, incorrect and skipped. This will help you understand which is a weaker section, once you find it start focusing on the same. The mistake you made in your last mock should be a lesson for your next mock.

TIME MANAGEMENT
150 questions to be answered in 120 minutes clearly shows that managing time effectively is the key to acing AILET, and for this,s a well-structured approach is needed. First, try to attempt the questions you are confident in and prioritize the high-scoring sections. Learn to maintain accuracy under pressure as the paper requires effective time allocation to each section. Practise mocks, analyse them thoroughly and remember, the more you practise, the more confident you become.
