ANALYSIS CLAT 2026

ANALYSIS CLAT 2026

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026 was conducted on 7th December 2025, from 2–4 PM, across 139+ centres in the country. The examination was held offline and witnessed participation from students across India seeking admission to National Law Universities. The candidates who appeared for the test found the overall difficulty level to be moderate with an unexpected pattern.

Let’s have a detailed look at the section-wise analysis of the paper:

I. Reading Comprehension (English)

The English (Reading Comprehension) section consisted of 5 passages, with X5 questions for 4 passages and 4 questions in one, making a total of 24 questions. The passages were diverse and covered different subject matters such as fiction, politics and history.

The difficulty distribution stood as follows: 3 passages could be categorised as easy and 2 passages as moderate in the moderate-to-difficult range.

The section wasn't lengthy either, allowing candidates to attempt it at full speed.

Candidates reported that the section felt slightly difficult due to time pressure. However, the presence of several direct vocabulary questions balanced the section, making its overall difficulty fall in the easy to moderate range.

An average number of good attempts in this section would be around 22-24, with most questions being easily doable.

II. Current Affairs (GK)

The Current Affairs section comprised 5 passages with 28 questions in total. All passages were  moderate based on recent issues and one or two questions from each were somewhat trickier.
A thorough preparation of one-liners would have helped candidates secure 25 correct answers, even in the tougher passages.

Half of the questions from each passage were purely fact-based, the rest were fairly manageable. Most questions appeared to be sourced from newspapers and were based on topics such as India-US tariff Wars and H-1B visa issues, Ahmedabad Plane crash, The Chess tournaments, Pahalgam Attack and 25th SCO summit.

The section remained predictable and doable. All the topics were well anticipated and expected.  Thus, it can be classified as easy to moderate on the difficulty level. Easy on the basis of the topics and moderate on the basis of the questions put up from the passages. A good number of attempts—considering a couple of safe, educated guesses—would fall around somewhere between 20-24.

III. Legal Reasoning

The Legal Reasoning section was fairly easy to moderate, the length of the passages being fairly decent. It included 5 passages comprising 29 questions in total, covering one very recent legal topic and the rest being centered around core static legal topics

Average good attempts in this section would be around 25-27.

Overall, the difficulty level may be categorised as moderate, with the major challenge being the choosing between two tricky options and an understanding of the static legal.

 IV. Logical Reasoning

The Logical Reasoning section was the most surprising for all the candidates. It included 26 questions spread across 4 passages. All passages remained within the word limit prescribed by the Consortium and were from Analytical Reasoning.

While a couple of questions leaned towards the tricky side, the overall section was easy to moderate, and a good number of attempts would be around 23-24.

V. Quantitative Techniques (QT)

This section consisted of 12 questions based on data sets. Following recent trends, the data sets were based on Percentages & Numbers
Although both the sets were fairly easy, and required simple calculations.

Given that the sets were caselets, the overall time pressure of the paper, and QT being the most attainable section, a reasonable number of good attempts would be around 10, with the difficulty level falling in the easy range—leaning more towards the easier side.

Overall Analysis

Overall, CLAT 2026 can be characterised as moderate, with a good number of attempts being 100+.

The paper deviated from the pattern, sequence, and type of questions of previous year papers, however the questions were doable that makes it a paper to be aced well. Time management and the ability to stay calm under pressure were key to performing effectively in this exam.
